Jo Ellyn Bass and Jan Kolker of Beacham & Company just listed this picturesque home (294 Camden Road) in Brookwood Hills. Brookwood Hills is a sought after neighborhood right across from Piedmont Hospital. I love its historic charm as well as the swim/tennis facility. This home was renovated by ESD Homes, and you can totally see a woman's touch. The entire house is flooded with natural light. The kitchen is perfectly designed offering a place for everything, room for children to gather around the island, and windows. I love windows flanking a stove, and these offer so much charm to the kitchen. The family room is surrounded by iron doors and windows on two sides, creating the feel of a solarium or sunroom. The doors overlook a large carport/grilling area. Beyond that is a chicken coop currently housing 19 hens. You guys may remember that I used to own chickens, and I fell in love with the coop right away. The master retreat is upstairs, which allows you to be near young children. There is an office in the master, which is an ideal workspace. The master bath is well designed without being too large. All in all this is one of the best houses I've seen hit the market in quite a while, and I don't think it will last long. In fact, I have been racking my brain trying to think of the perfect buyer. Is it you?

Every year I photograph the homes for the First Place Passion Tour for The Cathedral of St. Philip. It's a tour of first time home buyers, and the houses are so beautiful. I love getting to see everyone's style. This year the tour is on Jan 31st in Springlake/Wildwood. Tickets are only $20, and it's a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Purchase tickets here.

I think we've hit the terrible 2s early. My once angelic son has been replaced with a screaming, untamed animal from the jungle. He cries uncontrollably at the word "no" and throws his whole body on the ground screaming if you don't give him a cookie. Don't get me wrong. I like cookies too and feel like crying when I can't have one... but it's still hard to watch. Sometimes when it's just the two of us I legit feel like I'm being punked. I secretly look for hidden cameras every time I have to chase his naked little body around trying to put a diaper on him.
I reached my mom low point this morning. Today was supposed to be my first day back shooting houses, and I was excited. Our nanny called to say she couldn't make it, Oliver broke my favorite coffee mug, and I totally lost my cool.
As soon as I did, Oliver crawled onto my lap and played quietly with a truck for the next twenty minutes - looking up every so often to kiss me. I hit a pretty huge shame spiral. :(
Welcome to the twilight zone.
Here are a few cool things I've found this week:
Have you finished Making a Murderer yet? It's all the rage, and Jimmy and I knocked it out pretty quickly. In case you've been living under a rock, it's a Netflix documentary about Steven Avery. He was falsely accused of rape and spent 18 years in jail. Soon after he got out he was accused of killing, raping, and burning the body of a female photographer. The documentary is told through the lens of the defense attorneys, who think the police framed Avery. Jimmy and I finished the last episode outraged at the criminal justice system. Further research shows there are, of course, two sides to every story, and the rabbit hole gets deeper and deeper. Here are a few of my favorite follow up reads:
14 pieces of troubling evidence "Making a Murderer" left out or glossed over
Rocksbox reached out to me and asked me to try out their service for a few months. I am usually someone who doesn't wear a ton of jewelry, so I thought maybe it wasn't for me. After a few emails I decided to check it out and see what they offered. For a very low monthly fee you can borrow as much jewelry as you want (3 pieces at a time). You can also buy pieces if you fall in love with them. I have a ton of wedding related events on the horizon and decided to try it out for a few months. I was very very impressed with the selection of jewelry and the signup process. If you would like to try the service for one month free, you can use the code thisphotographerslifexoxo at checkout. Here are a few of my favorite pieces.
And finally, if you have 15 extra minutes, you HAVE to watch this video. I don't even like Adele and was LOLing. Her story about having 5 glasses of wine and buying a fan dinner SLAYS ME.
TGIF- for real.
