Wine Awesomeness is a service where you can choose either 3 or 6 bottles of wine to be delivered to your door every month, every three months, or you can order a one time box! Most of the wine on the site is under $20. If you click this link, you can get your first month free! Also, shipping is free on wine you are a member of the site.
Wine Awesomeness was nice enough to send me a box of 6 wines to try. They service was impeccable. The box arrived at my doorstep promptly and was packed perfectly. The wine came with information. It arrived on a Friday night, and I was tempted to break into it right away.
However, I saved it for a get together with two couples in our neighborhood – Kyle and Elise and Jon and Catherine. Over Christmas my friend Kate taught me a game where you get several bottles of wine together, number them, and do a blind taste test to see which one is the best. We had the BEST time doing it, and it's a great party game. I decided that was the best way to figure out which of these 6 bottles was best.
To start off you number all the wine.
After I numbered the bottles, I printed off this form (I found it on pinterest) that would allow everybody to rate the wine and comment on it.
We started with wine #1 and worked our way through 6 bottles (It's easy to taste six bottles of wine if you just have a sip of each and if you have a lot of people. We also did not pressure ourselves to finish all the wine. If there was a bottle we did not like we quickly moved on -- I'm not advocating over consuming wine).
We were all very excited by wine #1 (Fiction) because it came in a can!
Anything that makes wine drinking similar to beer drinking is a movement I can support!
Of course, after a few "sips of wine" everybody become a critic! I found describing the tastes of the different wines very challenging, and I tried to only use my go to word "bold" every other bottle! Some of us were very good at it. My husband should be a food critic. I was amazed by some of his descriptions! Below are some of my favorite comments.
At the end of the day, we all liked #4 (Adelante Malbec) the most, but #2 (Vinum Pinot Noir) and #3 (Upside) tied for second place! I went back for another taste of #4 and was so sad it was gone!
The best part about Wine Awesomeness is that you can try all the different wines and then order more of your favorite. They offer Red, White, Sparkling and Rose. I asked for all red because that's what I like, but you can choose what's best for you.
Many Many thanks to my research team! I couldn't have done it without you!
P.S. The wine in this post was provided by Wine Awesomeness, but all the opinions are my own. If you do click over to their site from this blog, you get your first month of Wine Awesomeness for free! I also get a small credit for more wine, but that allows me to keep bringing you fun posts like this. I consider it a win win.
