We start off all our favorite Saturday mornings with a trip to the Peachtree Farmers Market, which is located at The Cathedral of St. Philips. It's my favorite farmers market because it brings together so many local vendors and companies I love in our community. Oliver loves the people watching, and Jimmy and I love the coffee and breakfast. We found out about Garnish & Gather at the farmers market, and we usually attend the live chef demos. This week I got wildflowers for the house from McMullan Family Farm, and we all had pimento cheese and bacon biscuits. We picked up some drunken tomatoes from Doux South Pickles and sausage from Pine Street Market to make my favorite jambalaya recipe for lunch during the UGA game. We usually check in with the Preserving Place booth and see what's new. You may remember them from this post I did about the PERFECT homemade biscuit. I also always go by theSouper Jenny booth to see what salads they have. This week I discovered Eden Easy Beds, a company that makes wooden containers and the most beautiful succulent arrangements. You can bring them your own container, and they will make an arrangement for you that you can pick up the following week. I am going to do that for sure! And finally, I couldn't leave without some Banner Butter, which is truly one of the best things I've ever tasted. I didn't know butter could be that good!

Those of us from the South know Black Eyed Peas and Collard Greens can be enjoyed year round, not just at New Year's. I've enjoyed them with my family all months of the year, but it's especially fun around Jan 1st when you believe stuffing your face with them will bring you money and good luck in the coming year.
Those of you who are regular TPL readers (thank you!) know that I adore Garnish & Gather (seenhere and here). Garnish & Gather is a service that sources local items from farms and gives you everything you need to make the featured meal that week. This week's recipe by Chef Nick Melvin is called "Good Luck Soup with Bacon, Collards & Black Eyed Peas," and it is delicious. Emily Golub, the founder of G & G, gave me permission to start featuring some of the meals on here, and I am so excited! What an awesome treat for you guys! The food is as good as any restaurant food, and you can make it at home. Holla.
Without further ado, I give you "Good Luck Soup."
