Laura Florkowski is a talented graphic designer here in Atlanta. We met almost 6 years ago when she came to work with me at Beacham & Company. We became fast friends. In the past few years we've gone through some of life's biggest transitions together. We both got engaged, planned weddings, and got married within months of each other... while sitting in the same office every day! It was so much fun watching Laura plan her wedding. She has an amazing eye and sense of design. She knew exactly what she wanted and executed it with grace and efficiency... unlike me who fumbled my way through it and had to ask her advice every five seconds. Laura's wedding went off without a hitch... except for a few sprinkles, which actually enhanced the day and made for breathtaking photography. Ever detail was perfect and they all went together beautifully.
When Laura launched her own invitation design company last year, LemonPost Design, I was so excited for her. She loves weddings, and she is good at reading people and knowing what fits their style. She's done lovely invitations, save the dates, holiday cards and even baby birthday invites. Laura is a delight to work with. When she started at Beacham, our boss nicknamed her "sunshine," which fits her perfectly! She is the ideal person to work with on your wedding invitations!
About Laura
Job: Graphic Designer - Owner, LemonPost Design
Please describe your typical work day:
For the past 5 1/2 years, I have been working for Beacham & Company, REALTORS as their Graphic Designer (where I met the lovely Blayne). When I’m not at Beacham, I’m at home working on building my personal brand, LemonPost Design. I have a home studio where I create a wide range of custom invitations and design elements for various events. A couple years ago, while creating my own wedding invitations, I realized that the wedding circuit was my true passion. My wonderful husband who has encouraged me for years to start my own business, and finally got his wish last year when I launched LemonPost. I now spend most nights in the studio while he makes sure my wine glass is always full :) Gotta love that!
10 Questions
1. If you could choose one celebrity and raid their closet, who would you choose?
Rachel Bilson. I’ve always loved her boho-girly style.
2. Who is your favorite artist?
Coincidentally, it’s Melissa Payne Baker (Featured on TPL last week). Ever since Blayne introduced her work to me years ago, she has always been my artist to watch. There is something so beautiful and calming about her work. One of these days I hope to purchase one of her paintings.
I’m also LOVING the work of Britt Bass. I was recently introduced to her at Camp Workshops Fall Supper. She was one of the featured vendors. Her amazing ability to mesh color and shape is so inspiring.
3. Describe your prefect Atlanta date night.
Billy and I LOVE going to King and Duke and sharing “The Duke,” which is their awesome burger. Not only is the food amazing but they have such innovative and tasty cocktails (my favorite is “ The Horses Neck"). The atmosphere is pretty awesome as well. Another favorite date night activity is going to Noche in Brookhaven and then heading over to CineBistro for a movie.
4. Where is your favorite place to shop for clothes?
Anthropologie. Duh.
5. What did you want to be when you were young?
A firefighter or a photographer. Because those are so similar :)
6. What book made a difference to you?
7. What is your favorite thing to cook at home?
Martha Stewart’s Flaky Buttery Biscuits. One of mine and Billy’s favorite things to do is cook breakfast at home on the weekends. These biscuits go perfectly with homemade blackberry jam and an egg over medium on the side.
8. What was the best purchase you made last year?
Our bed! We got it from One Kings Lane and absolutely love it.
9. Where is your favorite place to buy things for your personal home?
Ballards and the new Restoration Hardware in Buckhead.
